Addressing Folate, Thiamine, and Vitamin D Deficiencies Globally

It is estimated that worldwide, more than 2 billion people and half of all children suffer from one or more micronutrient deficiency. This free half-day symposium will present the conclusions of three expert committees on folate, thiamine, and vitamin D deficiencies. These committees, assembled by the Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science and the Micronutrient Forum (hosted by Nutrition International), and sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, brought together experts in public health, healthcare, biochemistry, and nutrition programs to discuss the prevalence of deficiency arising from inadequate intakes for each of these micronutrients, the associated disease burden, and solutions to improve micronutrient status in affected populations. The conclusions of each expert committee will be presented at this free symposium and published in Special Issues of the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences. To register: nyas.org/micronutrient
