About the Panelists:

Dr. Sarah Hewko is a Registered Dietitian and Assistant Professor at the University of Prince Edward Island where she teaches clinical nutrition and professional practice. In her research, she focuses on the work-lives of health professionals - particularly dietitians - with the goal of optimizing workforce participation, job satisfaction and population- and individual-level nutrition outcomes. She maintains a small private practice where she works with clients to address disordered eating patterns.

Kelsey Cochrane is a PhD student at the University of British Columbia studying nutrition during pregnancy. Her background is in nutrition and dietetics, and she worked as a registered dietitian in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from 2014-2018 in both clinical and community settings. Her current thesis research is a clinical trial of folate supplementation during pregnancy, where she is looking to recruit 60 pregnant women. Kelsey has been comparing the use of posters vs targeted ads on social media as a means to recruit participants.

Claire Lawson is an MSc Thesis Candidate in the School of Human Nutrition at McGill University. She holds a BSc (Honours) in Biomedical Science and Nutritional and Nutraceutical Sciences (Minor) from the University of Guelph, where she worked under the supervision of Dr. Alison Duncan. Claire’s present research under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie Chevalier focuses on prehabilitation and optimizing nutritional status in cancer patients before surgery. She hopes to further understanding about the dietary intake of surgical cancer patients, as well as explore changes in muscle and fat in these patients in response to prehabilitation.
