Postdoctoral Research Fellow: Social ties, gender and survival in Canada

A research team of epidemiologists, sociologists and clinical specialists at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Campus, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a 1-year term.

The successful candidate will have a leading role in a CIHR-funded research project looking at the impact of social ties and gender on cardiometabolic markers of longevity among Canadian older adults. We will seek to understand how the quantity and quality of different social ties influence longevity and health from a gendered perspective. The project promises to fill important gaps in knowledge about the physiological pathway linking social ties and survival in Canada, and the results will be communicated to research agencies and researchers through a range of written outputs.

Applicants must have:

Work will include ethics and data access applications, data cleaning and preparation, statistical analysis and data interpretation, writing and submission of academic manuscripts, presentations to conferences and local researchers. The Fellow will be primarily appointed at UBC's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (https://pharmsci.ubc.ca) with the Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (https://core.ubc.ca/). The postdoctoral research fellow will be mentored by Dr. Annalijn Conklin and will have the opportunity to collaborate with Co-Investigators, Drs. Veenstra and Khan.

Applicants should submit a statement of relevant experience and training, CV, PDFs of up to three representative publications, and contact information (telephone and email) for three referees via email to: annalijn.conklin@ubc.ca

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Preferred start date is May 15th, 2019 but is negotiable.
