Research Assistant
Term: 1 year
The Research Assistant will provide support for research activities underway in the Bone health and Exercise Science laboratory under the direction of Dr. Lora Giangregorio. Research activities include clinical trials, guideline development and knowledge translation activities. The position will involve data collection and analysis, project management, and administrative duties, among other tasks
This role is contingent on funding.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate ongoing clinical research, including single- or multi-centre clinical trials, and support research ethics records
- Facilitate recruitment via communications with local community partners and health care providers
- Obtain informed consent and collect data from human participants, and oversee data management
- Perform analyses of data
- Assist with literature searches, systematic reviews or knowledge syntheses and development of guidelines, or reports for funding organizations
Knowledge Translation
- Assist with the development of knowledge translation materials
- Review and edit written materials prepared by team members
- Assist with manuscript development
Research Team Support
- Liaise with study sites, collaborators, co-investigators and partners to manage projects, organize team meetings and support team communications
- Support and oversee activities of graduate and undergraduate trainees
- Manage purchases and inventory of new equipment and supplies
- Maintain the laboratory email distribution list and associated communications
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (e.g., Bachelor's, Master's) in applied health science or related field
- Experience coordinating complex multi-site research projects
- Experience conducting research in older adults
- Experience collecting health history, or data using performance-based measures or survey-based instruments, or qualitative interviews
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience using data collection and statistical analysis software
- Skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments and deadlines
- The position requires minor physical exertion associated with office and computer work or data collection
- Role may require some occasional evening work, or travel to other sites within or outside of working hours
